Join us at the 2nd Annual Feast on the Farm taking place Saturday, August 5. Combining the crafts of a farmer, a baker, a brewer and a chef, guests will be treated to a one of a kind, educational experience.
Guests will meet at Hewn Bakery in Evanston and travel via coach bus to Hazzard Free Farms, two hours outside Chicago. The event will kick off with a cocktail hour with Pipeworks Brewing Companybrews, and guests will embark on a tour of the farm’s sprawling property and old barns along a beautiful creek with owner Andy Hazzard. Along the way, adventurists will discover grains, vegetables, wildflowers, and even Marquis Wheat – a heritage grain that Hewn uses in its breads.
Post-tour, the family-style feast will emulate that of a traditional harvest celebration. Featuring a three-course menu by Found Kitchen’s Nicole Pederson and Hewn’s Head Baker Ellen King, the meal will highlight local and seasonal fare. To top it off, each dish will be paired with specially-forged craft brews by Claudia Jendron from Pipeworks.
At the end of the evening, guests will depart the farms and return back to the bakery with full stomachs and a new appreciation of farmers, bakers, brewers and chefs.
