Hewn uses organic flour and grains.  We partner with several local farmers to source our ingredients.

Our Libertyville outpost offers a curated selection of items.  Certain items, such as sandwiches,  ciabatta, almond and chocolate almond croissants, canelés, and baby loaves are only available in Evanston.

Challah is available every Friday at 9am for walk-in sales at both locations.  We suggest pre-ordering challah through our Tock site.  Baguettes are available in Evanston every day – they are usually out of the oven around 9:30 or 10 am.  Baguettes are available in Libertyville Friday-Sunday.

Our bread selection rotates daily and consists of our country loaf, blonde country loaf, whole wheat seeded and rotating specialty loaves. Baguettes are available in Evanston and they are baked around 9:30 am. They are available on a first come, first served basis. Please note that this schedule is subject to change pending ingredient availability and/or certain holidays or events.

Sandwiches, other lunch Items & coffee

A selection of sandwiches, brownies and cookies are available every day. Cold sandwiches are available only in Evanston.  Grilled sandwiches are available at both locations. Our current sandwich menu includes the following:

Hot sandwiches:  Breakfast Sandwich with eggs, cheese, bacon and onion jam on a brioche bun, Cubano on Torta, Grilled Cheese on Country, Turkey Chipoltle Melt on Ciabatta, Reuben on Country.

Cold sandwiches: Classic Veggie on Ciabatta, Italian on Seeded Torta, Turkey Cranberry on Country, Tuna on Baguette, Ham on Baguette.

Challah is made every Friday and it is available starting at both locations.  Pre-orders for Evanston pick up are available on Tock.

Ordering & Catering

Hewn will close early if we sell out of breads and pastries. Please note that we are not able to reserve items over the phone.  Certain menu items can be ordered online for our Evanston Bakehouse with 2 days notice.  Customers wanting to purchase more than 10 loaves at a time must place an order online.
