20 Must-Eat Pies in Chicago, 2017 Edition
by Ashok Selvam and Jeffy Mai
A slice of pie seems to have an uncanny way of melting away problems and Chicago’s bakers have an arsenal of great ideas when it comes to the pastry. They’ve all mastered the art of crust making and fill their creations with seasonal fruits and luscious creams. Some use exotic ingredients, providing their own spin on tried-and-true classics.
The following spots represent a tasty cross slice of great pies available in Chicago. Apologies to British-inspired purveyors, like Pleasant House Pub, as this list focuses on the sweet variety. It’s also limited to bakeries and restaurants so pie makers, such as Fasano’s and Rustic Tart, are not included.
From mini pies to pie slices, there’s something for everyone. Even fans of those infamous Hostess Pies from the 1970s. Listed in alphabetical order.

Everything is made from scratch daily and patrons can be the most popular at Thanksgiving dinner by bringing one of Hewn’s pies. Among the choices available for preorder is a special FEW Bourban pecan pie.
