After Hours At Hewn: Making the Starter (Levain)

After Hours at Hewn – Making a Starter (levain)

Thursday, April 7th at 6:00 pm.

This class will provide participants with the opportunity to learn how to create a starter (levain) and how to use that starter to make and shape bread.

Co-owner and baker Ellen King will guide participants through the process of making a starter and each participant will be able to take their starter home with them.  Ellen will also describe our bread making process, specifically focusing on Whole Wheat bread. All participants will learn how to make Hewn flatbreads for everyone to enjoy at the end of the class.   The flatbreads will be part of our dinner menu for the evening. Local Evanston beverages will also be served!
